Manual-start gasoline generators use a recoil or other manufacturer-specified manual starting arrangement, making them an option where electric-start equipment is not needed. Compare the generator’s rated continuous output, starting capacity, fuel-tank size, receptacles and actual engine requirements. The amount of power available continuously may be lower than the peak figure on the product label.

Build a list of appliances and their startup loads before choosing a generator. Confirm the exact Tanabe, Marpro or other model, operating voltage and frequency, recommended fuel and maintenance routine. Never run any engine-powered generator indoors, in a garage or near doors, windows or air intakes because of carbon-monoxide poisoning risk.
