The Makita HP1630 is sold as one tool unit. A corded hammer drill for masonry fixing holes and general drilling in wood or steel with the appropriate bit. Choose it by the material and hole diameter, then check how many holes the job needs.

Verified model details

Makita lists a 710 W input, variable speed and reverse, with capacities of 16 mm in concrete, 13 mm in steel and 30 mm in wood. The HP1630 model uses a keyed chuck. This listing identifies HP1630; it does not substitute the HP1630K carrying-case package.

Get the accessory fit right

Use a suitable masonry bit for masonry work, and switch to rotation-only drilling for wood or metal with the correct accessory. A straight-shank bit must fit within the chuck range; an SDS-plus bit is not a direct fit for this chuck. Keep the chuck key out of the chuck before starting. For screwdriving, match the bit tip to the screw and use controlled speed.

Before drilling a wall

Identify the wall material and check for concealed electrical cables and plumbing. Follow the tool manual, secure loose workpieces, control dust and use suitable eye and hearing protection. Heavy or overhead fixings require an appropriate anchor and substrate assessment; a drilled hole alone does not establish a safe load rating.
