BOYSEN® Cool Shades™ is a high-performance, water-based, low-VOC roof coating formulated with advanced infrared-reflecting (IR) pigments. This innovative technology allows for stylish and vibrant roof colors while significantly reducing heat build-up on painted surfaces. The 100% acrylic binder enhances dirt pick-up resistance, ensuring long-lasting heat-reflective properties and durability over time.

Service Conditions:

• For best results, use with BOYSEN® Primeguard™ White B-4301 as a primer for new galvanized iron, aluminum, or stainless steel surfaces.

Surface Preparation Guidelines:

✔ New Galvanized Surfaces: Wipe with a paint thinner-soaked rag to remove grease, oil, or contaminants. Apply BOYSEN® Metal Etching Solution B-71 (10% solution) for surface etching, rinse, and dry immediately.
✔ Unpainted Galvanized Surfaces (Exposed for 6+ Months): Etching is not required. Clean thoroughly before applying primer.
✔ Previously Painted Surfaces: Sand lightly and wipe clean before painting. Remove loose or peeling paint, spot-prime bare areas.
✔ Corroded Galvanized Surfaces: Remove rust by wire brushing and apply BOYSEN® Metal Etching Solution B-71 for 10-15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and prime immediately after drying.
✔ Unglazed Roof Tiles: Clean surfaces thoroughly to remove dirt, dust, grease, and other contaminants.

Painting Schedule:

New Roofing:
1️⃣ Primer: BOYSEN® Primeguard™ B-4301 White
2️⃣ Topcoat: BOYSEN® Cool Shades™ (2 coats, any desired color)

Repainting:
✔ If bare substrate is exposed during preparation, apply a primer.
✔ Finish with at least 2 coats of BOYSEN® Cool Shades™ over a well-prepared, existing paint surface.
