An impact or hammer drill can provide rotary drilling with a hammer action for suitable masonry work. Compare corded models by wattage, chuck diameter, approved drilling capacity and whether standard rotary and hammer modes are selectable. The correct drill bit and material matter as much as motor size.

Check the tool’s exact chuck fitting, included auxiliary handle, depth stop and drill-bit package before ordering. Use normal rotary drilling for materials such as steel and timber when directed by the manufacturer, and hammer action only on approved masonry. Keep the workpiece secure, use appropriate eye and dust protection and check walls for hidden wiring or pipework.
